Seasonal Food Safety & Sanitation Supervisor

Department: Corral Club Parttime
Location: Houston, TX

SUMMARY

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is seeking a part-time, seasonal Food Safety & Sanitation Supervisor to oversee food safety practices across our food and beverage operations. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal food safety regulations while supporting our teams in delivering a safe and exceptional guest experience. The Supervisor will work closely with Corral Club, Commercial Exhibits and Wine events staff, and serve as the primary liaison with local health authorities during the Rodeo season.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, implement, and monitor food safety and sanitation programs in line with regulatory standards.
  • Conduct inspections and audits of foodservice and bar areas (commercial exhibits, corral club bars, catering events, executive dining, etc.).
  • Lead and support incident investigations, corrective actions, and follow-up.
  • Partner with teams to ensure safe food handling, storage, and preparation practices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting of inspections and compliance activities.
  • Provide input on food safety design and operational planning for new unit setups or renovations.
  • Serve as a point of contact for local health departments, regulatory agencies, and third-party inspectors.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Public Health, Environmental Health, or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
  • 2+ years of experience in food safety, sanitation, or regulatory compliance within food service, hospitality, or events.
  • HACCP certification preferred
  • ServSafe Manager certification required.
  • Strong knowledge of FDA Food Code, OSHA, and local/state health regulations.
  • Excellent communication, training, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, seasonal environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to stand/walk for long periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and work extended hours during Rodeo season.
  • Work involves evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Exposure to food preparation areas, cleaning chemicals, and animal-related environments is possible.
